Hello everyone, I'm having a blast revisiting old times by using emulators on my PC in combination with a new Xbox One controller I bought specifically for that purpose.
I played N64 using Project64 without any problems at all. Everything seems to be in order, my laptop seems to be able to handle everything, except for one major issue.
How To Fix Jammed Game Controller Buttons on Xbox
When ingame, the input I give via the Xbox One controller's analog sticks is not processed. All the other buttons seem to work fine.Stand-up comedy artists
It is only the analog sticks that cease to function both of them. I am pretty sure I have set up the controller in the correct way. In the Dolphin controller setup menu the analog input is properly received using the analog stick while mapping buttons works properly, and any movement I make with the controller's analog stick is represented in the corresponding diagram below.
This was all in version 5. After alot of research I decided to upgrade to the latest version of Dolphin, which happens to be 5. To my great joy, the analog sticks did seem to work in game this time!
However, my happiness was short lived, as after progressing through a few ingame menu's the same old problem resurfaced again! Even stranger so, if I would return to a previous stage in the ingame menu by pressing Bthe analog sticks worked again! To illustrate the problem I will explain using Super Monkey Ballsee the attachments. As far as I can see, the same problem follows the same weird progression in other games.
At least in Tales in Symphoniawhere, similarly, an early menu allows use of analog sticks, and later they aren't usable anymore. In both games the analog sticks are useless as soon as I get to actual gameplay. I must add that I think its unlikely that there is something wrong with the controller itself, it worked perfectly fine with Project I've already tried using all my USB ports.
Besides, the controller does show input in the controller configuration window. I would be so extremely thankful if anyone can help me resolve this issue. My nostalgia is burning like hell and this problem is getting really frustrating, I've tried everything I could to no avail.
Kind regards, milanrang. ExtremeDude2 Gotta post fast. Website Find. Ok, so far I've tested it with four games. Both Super Monkey Ball and Tales of Symphonia show that the analog sticks work in early menu's as I've explained before.
In both, as soon as I go any deeper in the menu's or reach actual gameplay, are unplayable because the control stick doesn't work anymore.(EASY) How To Fix ANY Xbox One Controller/Joystick Drift!!!
In both these games the control stick does not work at all. While the analog stick doesnt work in these games at whatever pointall other buttons do work. So the problem seems to be isolated around the analog stick for sure. If you want me to test more games I will, but so far 4 games all show the same problem. We can easily return it back to shop or contact the manufacturer to sort this out if your device is still under warranty.
However, mine warranty was over and I also do not have the patient to wait for the replacement. I prefer to sort thing in house and here is ONE of the solution of unresponsive button. In my case, the RB button is not responsive, I had to hold it for a full sec in order to have it work and it killed a lot of lifes. Because this may not be your solution, it could be the lever is broken or some other problem. T8H screwdriver - to open up the screws?
Pry stick - or whatever helps - pry stick is better cause it doesnt damage the outlook of the controller. Soldering iron - I got a Not too shabby station and it helps a lot, especially those cheap iron doesnt have a temperature control and I could easily damage the board by lifting the pad or Did you use this instructable in your classroom?
Add a Teacher Note to share how you incorporated it into your lesson. First, you will need a T8H screw Driver. There are plenty of video and instructions of how to disassemble a xbox controller and Im skipping the disassembly here. Because I only realized it when I have disassembled my controller and Im too lazy to put it back on and disassemble it again.
After you disassembled the shell, you will see there is the button at the spot the screwdriver pointed at. You can easly replace it with the online parts. Anyways, if you flip it, you need to find out there are pins which connected to the my faulty RB button. There are 4 pins there and 2 on the left are connected to the button itself and the other 2 pin on the right are connected to the supporting plate of the button.
The way to test the button is using a multi-meter. Switch it to continuity mode and connect it to those 2 pins on the left. A good click button should response right away and you should be hearing a beep when the button is pressed.
The result is my button doesnt response well, it has that lag or sometimes just not work at all. You can also compare with the replacement button and see if there is any different. Then I concluded that the problem is this button. We will need to de-solder the button out along with the supporting plate, because they are molded together. I switched my iron to degrees, it shouldnt burn anything if you dun let the iron sit on a point for too long.
You can also see there are 2 buttons, the white one is the original and has the backing plate, it has 2 plastic bits hold the button in place. Then compare with the replacement button the black one. The replacement should have the same height as the original one, some buttons is longer and they are not suitable replacement. Note: the replacement button I have has shorter legs, as long as they can probe into the hole, they are fine.
To stick the back plate back on to the button, you can simply just hot glue it. It should be a very tight fit, just wiggle it a bit and you will get there. You can also see the button is not sticking out as much as the original one. It doesn't matter as long you solder it well. Otherwise you wont get any response at all. Before that, just clean you controller a bit, since now you can access the area where the dirt hid.Menu Menu. Search Everywhere Threads This forum This thread.

I would try to re- configure the controller keys buttons. If that dont work.Wireless Xbox One controllers are great, but experiencing a disconnect in the middle of a game sucks all the fun right out of the room. The good news is that most of the problems that can cause an Xbox One controller to not connect, or cause a connection to fail, are pretty easy to fix. And even in a worst-case scenario, you can always turn your wireless controller into a wired controller with a micro USB cable.
When an Xbox One controller won't connect, it usually manifests in one of the following ways:. When an Xbox One controller won't connect, there are a handful of root problems that may be in play. At the most basic level, your controller and your console aren't talking to each other.
This can be caused by too much distance between them, too much interference, weak batteries, sync issues, and actual hardware failures. The best way to figure out why your controller isn't working right, and to fix it so that it will connect to your Xbox One, is to go through the following troubleshooting steps one by one. Attempt each fix, in order, and check to see if your controller connects after each step.
Make sure that your Xbox One controller isn't out of range. The maximum range of an Xbox One controller is about 19 feet, but placing objects between the console and the controller can greatly reduce that range. If your controller disconnected unexpectedly, and you weren't right next to the console, try moving closer and resyncing. If it loses connection again when you move away, then try moving any objects that are getting in the way or just sit closer to your Xbox.

Check to see if your controller turned off due to inactivity. Press the Xbox button on your controller, and it should reconnect and sync up. If you don't want it to shut off in the future, push at least one button on the controller every so often, or tape down one of the analog sticks. Methods like taping down an analog stick to prevent your controller from shutting off do work, but they cause the batteries to die more quickly.
Disconnect extra controllers. If you try to sync additional controllers, it won't work. If you already have eight controllers connected, you need to disconnect at least one of them.
Try fresh batteries in the controller. When this happens, the Xbox button on the controller will periodically flash when it loses the connection, and the controller may even turn off. To eliminate this as a possible culprit, replace the batteries with brand new batteries or fully charged rechargeable batteries. Don't use batteries from a remote or other device even if that device seems to work fine, as that device may not require as much power to run as an Xbox One controller.
Disconnect your headset temporarily. In some cases, a headset or mic can prevent your Xbox One controller from syncing up. If you have a headset or mic hooked up to your controller, remove it and try to reconnect. You might be able to plug your headset back in after a successful connection, or there could be a problem with the headset that will prevent you from doing so. Remove sources of wireless interference if possible. Here I show you, how to fix a broken Xbox One controller stick module, without replacing the module.
After my third controller broke down and I was really sick of send every month a controller to Microsoft, I dissassembled my controller and tried to figured out what happend always to my left stick, because the problem was always the same. But until now it seems to be good and maybe I will try this on my next new controller, I think it avoid them for breaking, too.
Did you use this instructable in your classroom? Add a Teacher Note to share how you incorporated it into your lesson. Then desolder the wires from the rumble motors red and black wiresand from the rumble motors in the triggers grey and black wires. After that screw off the two screws shown in the 2nd picture, then you can remove the board carefully.
If you removed the board, look up your broken thumbstick. There must be a grey piece of plastic at one side of the stick module. It is on the left side of the module, if you look on the board from above, like shown in the first picture.
When you locate that grey plastic piece, move the thumbstick a bit around and look if the grey plastic moves. When it moves or there is space between the grey plastic and the metal square, it must be fixed.
I used superglue to fix it. You must put it in the space between the grey plastic and the metal, but be very carefully, if you use too much glue, it could be damage the button under the grey plastic, which is the button when you press the thumbstick down.
Ok, hope it helps some people and hope that microsoft will edit the Xbox One Controller soon, I really like the controller but with this problems its really sick. Question 3 months ago on Step 2. An additional little tip: if the thumbstick "broken" off, superglue works great. But even better: there is a small hole that is the same "gauge" as a large paperclip that runs through the stick.
That way it is a little more reinforced. Reply 3 years ago. I just used this exact fix with one change, I happened to have some stainless steel wire of the same size. I will be doing it to all my current and future controllers. What size wire?
Where can I find that wire? Can you post pictures of your work, epoxy sounds great but glue only I hope you see this and can reply! Thanks in advance! Yes they do. I bought one on black friday, 2 weeks in left stick broke, returned it got new one not even 48hrs into the replacement the left stick broke again. I wish id have seen this post a year a go because this is spot on to whats been happening to all my controller elite, Halo version, S its fckn bs that MS is doing this to its consumers.
I ended up investing in a Cronusmax Plus. Unfortunately about the same cost as a controller.
Repairing an Xbox One Controller (Faulty LB/RB Button)
It allows you to use most controllers with the xbox one and other consoles. So I'm now using a crossover controller with the wireless receiver. However, the XB1 needs to first authenticate an XB1 controller before plugging in the controller after each power cycle.
Unfortunately through the hub I've not been able to get it to auto-authenticate after a restart. Also most headsets cannot be used through controller; only a select few.
Although there is a two controller method as a workaround. My ten year old son has put the batteries in the wrong way round and mow the controller refuses to run on battery power it doesnt recognise the batteries at all is there a reset or fuse that can be replaced,it still works via usb so i believe its F.Version: SXC-Static Restart the controller 1.
Check button mapping 1. You can double-check by opening the Xbox Accessories app and verifying that the button is mapped to the button you want to use. Give the controller more power 1. You might need an additional power supply for your controller. Try a different connection port 2. Plug your external device into a different port on the controller. If the button is responsive when connected to a different port on the controller, the original controller port might be defective.
If the button is unresponsive after connecting to multiple ports, the problem might be with the controller, but first be sure to rule out a problem with the external device. Check your external device 2. If the button is unresponsive after connecting your external device to multiple ports on the controller, the device might be incompatible with the controller or defective.
For compatibility info, see What external devices work with the Xbox Adaptive Controller? Connect a different device 2. To confirm that the problem is with the external device and not the controller, connect a different device to your controller if one is available.
If the button is responsive when you connect your device to the various ports on the controller, the problem may be with the original external device, not the controller. If the button is still unresponsive after connecting a different working and compatible external device to the controller, the controller may need to be replaced.
Replace your controller 1. Power cycle your Xbox or restart your PC 2. To power cycle the Xbox, press and hold the power button on the front of the console for 10 seconds, wait for the console to completely power down, then turn it back on.
Connect a USB-C cable 2. Your Xbox or PC should automatically detect the controller and charge it. For more info, see Charge the Xbox Adaptive Controller. Update your controller 1. For more info, see Update the Xbox Adaptive Controller. Did this resolve the issue? Yes No. Related topics 3. Still need help? Request a call, chat online, and more. Here is my fix: - Enter big picture mode and navigate to Bayonetta - Go to setup controller and then close it - Go to select input and select your controller. Now unselect and reselect it. Steam does this for every damn game I play now. Edit your Steam Controller configuration, pick Gamepad default, save.
You may have already had that, but Steam doesn't care and needs a reminder.
